What is the Biomagnetic Pair
Learn how therapeutic magnets can support the body’s natural balance, emotional well-being, and healing processes.
What is Biomagnetism
Biomagnetism, also known as Biomagnetic Pair Therapy, is a complementary wellness technique developed in Mexico in the 1980s by Dr. Isaac Goiz Durán.
According to Dr. David Goiz, Biomagnetism can be described as the placement of magnets (negative and/or positive) on specific points of the body to support magnetic alignment and homeostasis, while optimising the body’s cellular adaptive response, known as allostasis.
The technique uses therapeutic-strength magnets placed on specific areas of the body, with the intention of supporting balance and the body's natural regulatory processes.
One of the principles of Biomagnetism is to look at the body as a whole, recognising that different areas and systems of the body are interconnected rather than working in isolation.
Biomagnetic Pair Therapy has since expanded beyond Mexico and is now practised in many countries, particularly throughout Latin America.
How Does Biomagnetism Work?
The Biomagnetic Pair is based on a particular theory of balance within the body, including the relationship between pH and the internal environment.
To help explain these principles, I have included the video below by Dr. Garcia. I particularly like the way he presents the Biomagnetic Pair Technique in a clear and accessible way, making the theory easier to understand for those discovering Biomagnetism for the first time.
What Is Biomagnetism Used For?
People seek Biomagnetism for many different reasons. Some are looking for additional support with their overall physical wellbeing, while others are interested in exploring the connection between physical, emotional and energetic balance.
Because Biomagnetism takes a whole-person approach, the focus is not simply on one symptom or one area of the body. The intention is to support the body's natural processes of regulation and help create conditions that encourage greater balance and overall wellbeing.
For this reason, Biomagnetism can be incorporated as part of a broader approach to wellbeing alongside appropriate conventional healthcare.
Biomagnetism Under the Microscope
The video below is presented by Celia, one of my Biomagnetism teachers. Using dark-field microscopy, she compares blood samples before and after the application of Biomagnetic Pairs.
I find this demonstration fascinating because it offers a visual perspective of the changes she observes under the microscope.
English subtitles are available when viewing the video on a desktop computer.
This video is shared for educational purposes only and should not be considered diagnostic evidence or scientific proof of the effectiveness of Biomagnetic Pair Therapy.
What Happens During a Biomagnetism Session?
During the session, I use muscle testing as part of the Biomagnetic Pair assessment. This helps guide me through the different areas of the body and identify the specific Biomagnetic Pairs that may require attention. Some of my clients have commented that this part of the process reminds them of kinesiology, as muscle testing is also used in some kinesiology practices.
But What Does the Science Say?
There is growing scientific interest in understanding how static magnetic fields (SMFs) interact with biological systems and why different biological responses may occur.
One researcher contributing to this field is Professor Zhang Xin, Ph.D., Principal Investigator in Magnetobiology at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Hefei, China. Her research explores the effects and mechanisms of static magnetic fields at molecular, cellular and whole-organism levels, helping to expand our understanding of the relationship between magnetism and biology.
You can learn more about Professor Zhang Xin and the Xin Zhang Lab through the laboratory's official website.
It is important to distinguish this scientific research from Biomagnetic Pair Therapy. Research into static magnetic fields helps us understand how magnetic fields can interact with biological systems, but it does not, by itself, establish the effectiveness of Biomagnetic Pair Therapy as a therapeutic technique.
My own approach to Biomagnetism brings together different areas of my training. I use the foundations of traditional Biomagnetic Pair Therapy while also incorporating what I continue to learn through Dr. David Goiz, whose teaching builds on the work and experience of his father, Dr. Isaac Goiz, together with a more contemporary approach to Biomagnetism.
For me, these perspectives complement each other. They allow me to take a broader, more comprehensive approach to each client, always with the intention of supporting greater balance, wellbeing and quality of life.
Ready to Experience Biomagnetism?
Scientific research into static magnetic fields continues to evolve, while Biomagnetic Pair Therapy itself remains a complementary approach and should not replace appropriate medical care.
If you are curious about how Biomagnetism may support your wellbeing, I would be happy to work with you. Every session is personalised, combining my training and experience to support you as a whole and help you move towards greater balance and a better quality of life.
